Dale A. Beard

Funeral services for Dale A. Beard, age 79, of Davenport, IA, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21st, 2010 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial with military honors will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Mr. Beard died on Tuesday, December 7th at his home following a lengthy illness.Dale Allan Beard was born on June 19, 1931, to Verald and Nellie (Wright) Beard in Elgin, IL. He married Elizabeth Ann Charvat on April 15, 1951, in Davenport. She preceded him in death in July of this year.Mr. Beard was a 1949 graduate of Davenport High School. Following graduation, he served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. Upon discharge from military service, he began work at the former Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company as a technical supervisor retiring in 1994 after 43 years of service. Mr. Beard was a long time member of the Davenport Noon Kewanis, an avid golfer and a Hawkeyes fan.Survivors include - his Son: Jeffrey (Stephanie) Beard of Davenport; a Sister: Loris Resnick of Davenport; a Brother: Gary Beard of Moline; and 2 Granddaughters: Jennifer and Emily.In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Davenport Noon Kiwanis or to the family.
