

Graveside services for Dale R. West, 70, of Eldridge will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend services should meet at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport at 1:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon. Military honors will be conducted by the Vietnam Veterans – #776. Mr. West passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at his residence in Eldridge. Dale Richard West was born on May 26, 1945 in Centerville, IA, the son of Charles and Vera (Morris) West. Following high school, he joined the United States Army and served as a Sergeant during the Viet Nam era. In 1966, he married Corinne Ploog in Clinton, IA. He later married Sonnia Anthony on August 11, 1981 in Davenport. Most recently Dale worked as a school bus driver for the North Scott School District. He had formerly been employed by Lucent Technologies. Dale was a member of the Vietnam Veterans #776, the McCausland J.C.’s, and the Communication Workers of America (CWA). He also served as a Union representative and Vice President, as well as on the McCausland Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his Wife: Sonnia West of Eldridge; two Daughters: Lori West of Rock Island, JoAnne (Mike) Gravert of Thornton, CO; two Step-Sons: Robert (Carey) Moon of Davenport, Todd (Marisa) Moon of Helena, AL;six Grandchildren and two Great-Granddaughters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jane, and two brothers, Junior and Jerry. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
