A gathering with an Irish theme, to celebrate the life of Darlene R. McCallister, 74, of Davenport, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Izaak Walton League in Mt. Joy, IA. A private inurnment will be held at a later date. As per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Darlene died on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Unity Point Medical Center in Bettendorf. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements. Darlene Ruth Appleby was born on August 28, 1942 in Davenport, IA, the daughter of LaVerne and Florence (O’Brien) Appleby. She spent most of her adult life as a housewife and homemaker and was well known for her bubbly personality. She is survived by – a Son: Timothy (Linda) McCallister; 5 Sisters: Donna (Bill) Youngman, Pat (Dwayne) Petersen, Janet (Kleo) Zahner, Marilyn (Kyle) Pewe, and Georgia “GiGi” (Chuck) Hughes; 2 Brothers: Bob and Jim Appleby; 5 Grandchildren: Tera, Talitha, Trysta, Brandy, and Kristine; and 12 Great-grandchildren. Those preceding her in death include - her parents, a son John, a sister Cheryl, and a brother Randy.
