I wrote something here for Daryl 10 years ago, and if anyone still checks this, I want you to know I think of him often. The CDs I mentioned the first time - yep, I've still got em. I tell stories about the times I had at Holiday with Daryl and what an incredible imprint he left on my entire personality. I was between 16-19 when we worked together, and here I am at 31 still catching myself reminiscing about him quite frequently. I can still see him laughing so vividly right now as I type this. Or pulling up to the store in that legendary car. Daryl, I love you, and you meant a lot to me, man. You always live on in my memories and stories

I was incapable of leaving a note here when Daryl passed. It broke me. He was my best friend in the world. We understood each other on a level beyond language. We KNEW each other, to the core.  We were brothers. We had a psychic link. I've never known someone as well as I knew him. I can only manage to leave this message now because I have been thinking about him all night.  Little things in conversation trigger the memory, and down the rabbit hole I go. I miss him so much.  We wrote songs together, him and my brother John, and Ryan, then later with Louis on drums. Oh, the stories from that time. We were free and easy in the late 90s, and mischief was all around for us to dip our noses into. We had the Disc Jockey family, then the Overcast family, and the Slowfish family, and later when he moved to Minnesota, we had the bonds we formed during those early days to keep us together. I owe so much to him and his influence. He taught me how to talk to people. And he opened up new musical worlds for me. Music is what brought Daryl and I close. I remember the first night I worked with him at Disc Jockey. It was my first night on my first job ever, at age 16. We closed the store, and went into the back to finish up. He was doing the books, and I was sorting the CD and cassette trays, the special big ones we used to deter theft. I heard him making 'harrumph' type noises and other groans as he did the paperwork. This went on for a while. Finally, he turned to me and said: "Jeremy, I'm only going to ask you this once. Did you take any money out of the register?" Straight face, looking very serious. I replied in similar seriousness, very earnestly, that no, I hadn't taken any money nor would I even think about it. He stared at me with cold eyes, then  burst into laughter. He was just messing with me. That's how Daryl and I became friends, and we became fast friends after that and had many adventures. I miss him so much, and I know I always will. He was one of a kind. Daryl was my best friend growing up. I'm just devastated. I just found out. I just dont know what else to say...

To the family and friends of Daryl you have my sincere condolences. I remember Daryl to be a kind and wonderful person although it's been awhile since I've seen Daryl I will never forget his sense of humor or the way he never said a bad word about anyone. Most of all I will never forget Daryl the person.  You were truly one of kind and you will be missed by all of those who's life you touched. Thank you for the memories.

I'm so so sad to hear that Daryl has left the physical world. He is now a beautiful soul in paradise.

Daryl was a great father. He took Dassel everywhere. In the wagon to the bakery,parks,the library,to Playworks,to zoos,the nature center etc. He baked and cooked with Dassel. He loved his daddy's hot-dog surprise. He did artprojects with his son.And so much more. I was talking to Daryl's spirit in my back yard the other night when a great horned owl flew 8 feet over my head. It was a sign that told me to take care of little Dassel. And in honor and memory of dear Daryl that is what will be done. Mom Dewey

I know that Daryl was a good father, and I know that Daryl was loved by many.  And now, may his soul rest and find peace.

Words cannot explain how I feel right now.  I miss you more than I can even explain.  I will NEVER forget all the great memories I had with you...When I was little, one of the things I looked forward to was going to your house, and using you as mine and Morgans human junglegym. Or the times you made us laugh with your silly cheek music, or your Kermit the frog voice. You're oragami tricks were amazing! I still have the elephant you made me out of a dollar bill last Labor Day.  I will never forget dancing with you at my wedding...  I love you so much, and you will always be with me in my heart.

These times are hard but our minds will always emphasize what we loved about the person and diminish that which we wished were different.  Think about why you loved Daryl and know that we all are wanting you to find peace, now that he has.

We love you very much and will miss all the good times we had together at Christmas and reunions.  It won't be the same without you, but I know you will forever be with us in our hearts.

Daryl, my memories of you will last forever. Your amazing stories and great personality truly made you one of a kind. To this day, I have all the CDs you made me. You really did impact my life, and I hope you knew that. You opened my mind up to so many different things and you were always one of the most fascinating people to talk to. I'll never forget you, Daryl.

I see that the guest book entries posted so far are from Daryl's "Disc Jockey Family"...I have said before that during all my years of being a manager I've been very blessed to work with some tremendous young people.  The group that was working at Northpark during the time Daryl was there formed strong friendships and made coming to work everyday something to look forward to.  I knew Daryl to have a great sense of humor and loved by his friends.  RIP

Daryl, I still remember the fun we had working together. A couple highlights of those times: our roadtrip to Cedar Falls, and the time you took Aliah to "Pocket Change Park." She still talks about that! You will be missed.

Daryl, you left an indelible mark on your friends hearts. You wanted everyone to wave their freak flag high and be proud of their differences. Non-judgemental, tolerant, hilarious, and above all caring, you made living life a sort of art. From Disc Jockey, to road trips to Minneapolis, to the SloFish, to just hanging out, you made every time a great time. Thank you, sir.
