Dennis E. Fritz, 63, of Bettendorf, IA died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Trinity Bettendorf. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Runge Mortuary with visitation one hour prior to the service. Cremation rites were accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City, IA. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Dennis was born November 14, 1948 in Broken Bow, NE, the son of Bill and Louise (Nickel) Fritz. He was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Kammerman on October 8, 1977 in Hampton, IA. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a sales rep for Ives Pharmaceutical Company prior to his retirement and then went to work at Radio Shack and most recently was a volunteer driver for the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. His most important job was being a stay-at-home father to his two sons. He helped coach soccer and was involved with the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed playing cards; especially Hearts and was an avid Hawkeye fan. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Mary Ellen; sons: Sean Fritz McQuillan and his husband, Tim McQuillan, San Francisco, CA and Brian Fritz, Sarasota, FL; brother, Robert, Honolulu, Hawaii; sister, Mary (Robert) Laverty, Twin Lakes, IA and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
