Dirk “Dirko O” Oosting, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 4, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be left to St. Mark’s Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.weertsfh.com.
Dirk was born on January 6, 1948 in Davenport to Alburtus and Ada Irene Oosting. He married Pam Lucier on October 27, 1967 in San Antonio, TX. She preceded him in death 2019. Dirk met the second love of his life, Judy Sodawasser. They really enjoyed their life together.
With his devoted faith, Dirk was an active member of St. Mark’s Church. Dirk taught Sunday school and also participated in the Choir, was an assistant minister, Lecturer and served on multiple committees. Dirk proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Dirk retired from Arconic after 29 years of employment.
Dirk and Pam also ran the Depression and Bi-Polar Support Alliance for 20 years. Dirk’s most beloved hobby was RC combat and flying airplanes with the Davenport Radio Society. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling and camping.
He will be dearly missed by his girlfriend Judy; daughters, Julie (James Jr.) Good of Davenport, Amy (Gary Jr.) Bailey of Davenport, grandchildren; Cody Oosting, Ashley Decker, Richard Bailey II; brother, Bert “Bub” (Gwen) Oosting of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Pam, and sister, Darlene “Dot” Porter.
