Dolores M. Birkholz

Funeral services for Dolores M. Birkholz, 76, of Davenport will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial and graveside services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, April 2nd at the Riverside Cemetery in Charles City, IA. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, March 31st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Mrs. Birkholz died on Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.Dolores May Kollman was born on May 1, 1932 in Charles City, IA, the daughter of Edward and Mable (Cross) Kollman. On April 20, 1957 she married Donald D. Birkholz in Charles City, IA. In 1958 the couple moved to Davenport and began their family.Mrs. Birkholz worked as a sales representative for various area trucking companies for over 20 years and lastly as the terminal manager for the former Century Motor Freight Company in Rock Island. She was a member of the Davenport Chapter of TOPS, and the Women’s Traffic Club. She enjoyed all sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeye’s.Survivors include: her Husband: Donald; 2 Daughters: Kay (Chris) Bernat of Columbia, MD and Toni (Steve) Read of Lakeside, CA; a Son: Michael Birkholz of Olathe, KS; 2 Sisters: Donna Cornils of Fairfield, CA and Dorothy (David) Springer of Solvang, CA; 2 Brothers: Duane (Bev) Kollman of Wabasha, MN and David (Mary) Kollman of Blue Grass, IA; 2 Grandsons: Nicholas Bernat and Peter Read.She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Eric.Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C.
