

Private funeral services for Doris E. Stoltenberg, 77, of Whittier, CA, formerly of Davenport and Donahue were held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Stoltenberg died on Saturday, May, 3, 2014 in Whittier. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements.
Doris E. Rohlk was born on December 13, 1936 in Donahue, IA, the daughter of Harland and Pearl (Karstens) Rohlk. After graduating from Davenport High School with the class of 1954, she went on to further her education at the University of Iowa, Iowa City. On August 17, 1956 she married Roger Stoltenberg in Eldridge, IA. Throughout their married life they resided in Fort Benning, GA, Mount Holly, NJ, and Huntington Woods, MI before relocating to Whittier in 1972.
Doris was a teacher's aid at Rancho Starbuck Junior High for 28 years prior to her retirement in 2005. That year, the yearbook was dedicated in her honor. She was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. For 14 years she was active with the Red Ribbon Committee, which provided drug awareness to school aged children. She received the Prevention Citizen of the Year Award in La Habra, CA in 1990.
Doris was an active member of the East Whittier Friends Church and was the Chairman in charge of facilities.
She is survived by three Children: Mark of Ankeny, IA, Laura of Meridian, ID, Eric of Ellsworth, IA; four Grandchildren: Dayna, Trevor, Erin, Michael; one Great-grandson: Aiden; and a Sister: Judie Stoltenberg of Donahue, IA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Memorial at East Whittier Friends Church, Whittier, CA.
