

She was a resident at Ridgecrest Village, Crest Health Center in Davenport, Iowa at the time of her passing.
Runge Mortuary & Crematory, Davenport, Iowa is handling arrangements. Per her wishes, there will be no services. She will be interred at Davenport Memorial Park.
Dorothy was born on July 15, 1929 to Arthur A. and Ella (Hagman) Peters. She was a 1947 graduate of Davenport High School. She worked at the well-known Iowana Ice Cream Company Store and Hickey Brothers Cigar Store prior to being hired by the Rock Island Arsenal. She worked in the Cataloging Department until her retirement in April 1986 with 36 ½ years of service. She retired as Supervisor of her department.
She was a long-time member of the American Business Women’s Club Three Bridges Chapter and served as the club’s treasurer for many years. She always helped with the fundraisers for the club’s scholarship fund. For the club’s social occasions, she created beautiful table arrangements. Another relatively unknown talent of hers was her love for sketching. She also was an avid reader.
Dorothy enjoyed traveling. Her favorite trips were to Hawaii, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and Portugal. For many years she accompanied her sister, Arleen Minkler and her brother-in-law, Dwight Minkler on day trips.
She is survived by five nieces, two nephews and their spouses. Also, three great-nieces, and three great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Arleen Minkler and Carol Maher, brother Charles Peters, brother-in-law Tom Maher, brother-in-law Dwight Minkler and niece, Lori Lonergan.
Her family wishes to thank all of the staff at Ridgecrest Village, Crest Health Center for the wonderful, professional and compassionate care they provided her during her over seven years as a resident there. Many expressed how much they enjoyed caring for her and loved her like family.
Her family also wishes to thank the Genesis Hospice nurses for their compassionate comfort care for Dorothy during her last four days. They were also wonderful to her family sharing information about the care she was receiving and emotional support.
May they all be enjoying a happy reunion in Heaven. Until we join you, love you and miss all of you!
