Doug was born in 1955 in Davenport to Robert and Shirley Beyer. He was a proud graduate of Assumption High School, Class of 1972. Over the years, he worked a variety of jobs before finding his stride in sales at Mid-West Publishing, where he built a career from 1995 to 2015. He later continued his work at All Steel in Muscatine from 2016 to 2021.
Above all, Doug was a devoted father to Alexis and a deeply proud grandfather to Alyza (11) and Jameson (7). Being “Grandpa” was one of his greatest joys—he loved making them laugh, spoiling them any chance he could, and simply being present in their lives.
Doug had a lifelong love of sports and rarely missed a chance to cheer on the Bears, Cubs, and Iowa Hawkeyes. He was known for his honesty and straightforward nature—he told it like it was, and people respected him for it.
In his later years, Doug found true happiness with Lynn Wilharber. Together, they shared a love for travel, adventure, and the simple joy of spending time side by side. Those close to him saw how much peace and fulfillment this chapter of his life brought him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Shirley, and his younger brother, Gary.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Alexis; his grandchildren, Alyza and Jameson; his brother, Bruce; his sister, Kelly Donahue; and many extended family members who will miss him deeply.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at the Circle Tap in Davenport on Thursday, April 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Doug will be remembered for his honesty, his deep love for his family, and the way he showed up for the people he cared about.
