

A gathering to celebrate the life of Douglas E. Minch, 67, of Bettendorf, is planned from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Duck Creek Lodge, 3300 East Locust St. Davenport. There will be no visitation. Doug passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, February 5, 2017 with his wife Rhonda by his side. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.Douglas Eugene Minch was born on January 4, 1950 in Moline, IL, the son of Floyd and Muriel (Spargo) Minch. He married Rhonda Neves on September 25, 1993.He attended high school in Miami, FL, and worked as an iron worker until he moved back to the QC area in the early 1970s. Doug worked at various truck driving and construction jobs until 1981 when he was hired as a maintenance worker for the former St. Luke’s Hospital (now Genesis Medical Center). He painted for the next 31 years retiring in 2012. He loved golf, painting, doing home improvements, landscaping around his house, as well as attending the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Bix 7 races each year.Those left to cherish his memory include his Wife: Rhonda Minch of Bettendorf; Daughter: Tracy (Taylor) Eckstein of Dallas, TX; Sister-in-Law: Robin (Gilbert) Garcia of Friendswood, TX; 2 Granddaughters: Chloe Arvidson of Dallas, TX and Roxanne (Matt Walters) Kustes of Fulton, IL; a Great-grandson: Nicholas Walters of Fulton; his Mother-in-law: Betty Neves of Houston, TX; and numerous friends in the QC area and in Joliet, IL.Doug is also survived by a Son: Chad Minch of Sherrard, IL; Sister: Karen Miller of Viola, IL; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.He was preceded in death by his Mother and Step-father: Muriel and Martin McNally; his Father: Floyd Minch; and his Beloved pets: Angel, Buster, and Rudy.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Center in Milan, IL.
