A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2019 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Earlene was born on August 25, 1951 to Willie and Geneva (Carlyle) Ewing SR. in Wabash, AR. In 1980 she moved to Davenport, IA. She was united in marriage to Tyrone McDonald. During her career she worked as an armed security, phlebotomist in Arkansas, and the City of Davenport-sewer division.
Earlene was a strong woman and breast cancer survivor. She loved being outside, going to the park, sitting on the porch, listening to gospel and blues music, going to the casino and any activity that involved all of her family being together. She loved her family dearly and was known as “mom” to everyone who knew her. She was of the Southern Baptist faith and a member of Progressive Baptist, the 3rd Baptist Church in Davenport and of the Knights of Pythias.
Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Geneva Ewing; children: Ray (Briggette) Slaughter, Victor Slaughter, Cavette (Kris) Jackson, James Ray Guyton and Edwin Slaughter; grandchildren: December, Sabrina, Yvette, Victoria, Edwin Jr., Kenneth, Ray Jr., William, Kevon, Calesha and E’Daejah; brothers: Willie Ewing Jr., Gregory Ewing, Darnell Ewing, Jason Ewing, Bob Slaughter and Jimmy Ewing; sisters, Gloria (Daniel) Slaughter Hunter and Annette Felton; and a host of great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Ewing Sr.; husband, Tyrone McDonald; granddaughter, Cavettea; great grandson, James; daughter-in-law, Brenda Guyton; special friend, Shirley Guyton; uncle and aunt, Lerone and Charlie “Madea” Bateman.
