Elsie M. Hansen

Elsie M. Hansen, age 90, of Davenport, IA, died on Friday, March 25, 2011, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Davenport. As was her wish, cremation rites have been accorded. A private inurnment will be held at a later date. A memorial gathering will be held April 3, 2011 from 2 to 5 pm at Faith United Methodist Church in Davenport. Elsie Marie Hansen was born on November 11, 1920, to Noel and Bertha (Sontag) Stauffer in Amana, IA. She married Harold A. Hansen in June of 1940 in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death 1986. Mrs. Hansen was a devoted mother, an avid seamstress, and a skillful cake decorator. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, and serving as a Girl Scout Leader. She was best known for her sense of humor and her knack for making others laugh.Survivors include her Daughter: Christine Hansen of Washington, D.C. and a Son: Nathan (Mary Beth) Hansen of Blue Grass, IA; 5 Grandchildren, and 7 Great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the family, and a charitable donation will be made in her honor.
