Per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be held prior to the services at the mortuary from 2:00 – 3:00PM. Inurnment will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Erleen was born on September 24, 1924 in Oxford, Iowa, the daughter of Earl Ramsey and Viola Pearl (Kelley) Hevern. She married Fred Ports Horton on August 5th, 1945 in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2002.
Erleen enjoyed baking, playing bridge, traveling, and sewing. Family and friends were very important to her.
Those left to honor her memory include, children Michael (Carla) Horton, Thomas (Pat) Horton, and Joyce (Roger) Hergott; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four sisters.
