

Private funeral services were held for Eugene (Gene) K. Warner, 89, of Davenport on Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary chapel in Davenport. Interment was in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Warner passed away on April 27, 2010 at Trinity Bettendorf (formerly Trinity Terrace Park) as a result of complications from congestive heart failure.Eugene Kenneth Warner was born in Pinole, CA on April 16, 1921, a son of Orlyn and Marguerite (Alt) Warner. In 1939, Gene graduated from Davenport High School, where he was an accomplished Blue Devil wrestler. Gene served in the United States Army during World War II as a Sergeant stationed in Leavenworth, KS. On May 31, 1942, he married Virginia M. Broders in Durant, IA. For 42 years, Gene worked as a tool designer for International Harvester. He was very active with the Davenport YMCA, Davenport Dad’s Club, Little League, Pony League, and Colt League programs. He also loved camping and had a great interest in photography. Gene was a die hard Iowa Hawkeye fan. For over 30 years, he and his wife Virginia, rarely missed an Iowa Basketball or Iowa Football game. Gene was a devoted husband and father, and his immediate and extended family always meant so much to him. He is survived by a Son: Mark (Sue) Warner of Iowa City, IA; a Daughter-in-Law: Sandy Warner of Davenport; a Step-brother: Arnold Prosser of Richardson, TX; four Grandchildren: Stefanie Warner of Chicago, IL, Lindsey Warner of Iowa City, IA, Stacey Butler of Davenport, Shelley (Kurtis) Korf of Davenport; 5 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-great-grandchild.In addition to his parents and step-father, Milford Prosser, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, his oldest son, Dennis, and a step-brother, Richard Prosser.
