Fortunato G. Lira

Funeral services for Fortunato G. Lira, 86 of Davenport will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2018 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. A private burial will follow at a later date. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Lira died at his home on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

Fortunato Gonzalez Lira was born on June 11, 1931 in Gonzalez, TX, the son of Samuel and Rosa (Gonzalez) Lira. After moving from Laredo, TX to Davenport he married Maria Rodriguez in 1985 here in Davenport. They both attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mr. Lira was self employed as a carpenter for many years throughout the Quad Cities.

Surviving members of the family include - his Wife: Maria of Davenport; 3 Daughters: SanJuana Lira of Compus, Mexico, Paulita Lira and Claudia Lira both of Davenoprt; 3 Sons: Fortunato Lira of Ft. Madison, Samuel Lira of Davenport, and Benardo Lira of Loredo, TX; 4 Sisters: Catalina Lopez, Julia Moralez, Francisca Arriaga, and Esther Cantu all of Davenport; 1 Brother: Pablo Lira of Loredo, TX; 30 Grandchildren and 2 Great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 Brothers: Reyes, Fidencio, and Jesus.
