Francis Richard Younkin

Francis R. Younkin, 79, of Eldridge, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at University of Iowa home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Joy Cemetery, Parkview. Francis was born on October 18, 1945 in Davenport, IA to Rene and Ciretta (Smith) Younkin. Francis graduated from Davenport Central Central High School in 1964 prior to his service in the United States Army in 11th Cavalry in 1967. He was united in marriage to Pat Ragan on January 15, 1969 in LeClaire, IA. Francis was employed in the communications trade as a phone installation and service technician.

Francis’s favorite pastimes were watching his grandchildren in their sporting events, gardening, listening to music, hunting, wood working, and riding motorcycles not to mention his master MacGyver skills, but his fondest times were spent with his family and friends. Francis was a dedicated and wonderful Husband, Father, Papo and Friend. He loved watching The Voice on Monday nights with his granddaughter Alli. Papo touched so many lives and has always been known for his loving support of all.

Francis is survived by his loving wife Pat, sister, Cherilynn (Chris) Mueller of The Villages, FL; children, Brandi (Tim) Schneckloth, of Parkview, IA; Josh (Kristen) Younkin of Blue Grass, IA; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gene Younkin and Dale Younkin.

The family has requested all attendees to dress in casual attire.
