

Frieda Jackson, 96, of Davenport, passed away at her home on Friday, April 1, 2011. A private memorial service will be held. There will be no visitation. Online condolences may be left at www.therungemortuary.com . Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Frieda was born May 16, 1914 having been raised in Bexley, OH by her parents, Karl and Lulu (Snapp) Busch. She graduated from Bexley High School in 1932 and was united in marriage to Welles Jackson on September 7, 1938 in Bexley. Welles preceded her in death on April 3, 1993.
Frieda received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and her Masters Degree in Art from The Ohio State University. She began her career teaching Fine Arts at Capital University in Columbus, OH and then after her marriage and having her five children, she went on to teach Art History at the Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. She later taught in Springfield, Ohio and the North Scott School District in Iowa prior to her retirement in 1980. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, the Left Bank Art League and Artists Unlimited. Frieda had multiple art shows in the Quad City area and had won numerous awards. She loved gardening, nature, traveling and going to various symphonies and operas. She also was an avid walker.
Those left to honor her memory include her children: Melody Turner, Oak Park, IL; Robin Sytnik, Mahopac, NY; Winfield Jackson, Ashville, OH; Timothy Jackson, Hemet, CA; Christopher Jackson, Davenport, IA; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a step-sister, Janet Ebert, Urbana, OH. She was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a step-brother.
