He was born to Harlan and Phyllis Flenker on May 6, 1955. He graduated from Bennett (IA) High School and went on to graduate from St. Ambrose with a BS in Education. Later he received a Master’s Degree from Hyles Anderson College in Indiana. Gary taught math at Quint City Baptist School for many years. Later he worked for Walmart in Davenport.
Gary was an active member of Sycamore Baptist Church of Muscatine. He also officiated junior high sports.
Gary is survived by his brother, Wayne (Nancy) Flenker; nephews, Jason (Katie) Flenker and Tim Flenker; and his niece, Erin (Jason) Tkatch.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:30 on Tuesday, July 18, at Sycamore Baptist Church in Muscatine. In
