Gary L. Wright, 77, Monmouth, IL, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Monday, September 15, 2014 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gilda’s Club. Online condolences and tributes may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Gary was born on February 2, 1937 in Chariton, IA, the son of Clarence Edmund and Myrtle (Stuart) Wright. He served in the United States Army and was discharged in 1959 receiving a Good Conduct Medal and married Marilyn I. Seward on June 11, 1960 in Bettendorf, IA. They raised their family in Walcott and later moved to Lake Warren near Monmouth, IL. He worked as an electrician and retired from IBEW. He enjoyed working in his yard, trips to Colorado with his family, remodeling, fishing, drawing and wood carving. His greatest love was his spouse and his sons and their families and spending time with them. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bernard, Kenneth and Walter and sister, Evelyn. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Brian (Rhonda), Medina, OH and Warren (Melissa), Bettendorf; grandchildren, Jeremey and Justine; and sister-in-law, Irene Wright, Statesville, NC.
