

George R. Worley, 64, of Bettendorf, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 in Fort Meyers, FL. George was diagnosed with cancer in July 2023 and passed away from complications of chemotherapy. The visitation will be from 12:30-3:30 on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Weerts Funeral Home. Memorial service following at 3:30. George was born on May 13, 1959 to Dean and Dorothy (Monaghan) Worley. He graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1977. George went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from St Ambrose University. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Karen Lamb on May 26, 1979 in Davenport.
George was a dedicated leader at Modern Woodmen of America in Rock Island for 38 years – retiring in 2019. He was named Chief Agency Officer in 2005 and Chief Distribution and Marketing Officer in 2015. George was active in both the community and the financial services industry, serving in many leadership roles. He served on the GAMA Executive Leadership Cabinet and was a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counselors. He was past president of the Fraternal Field Managers Association and the Quad Cities General Agents and Managers Association. He also served on the board for the Society of Financial Services Professionals and the GAMA Foundation, and he was a member of the board of directors for MWA Financial Services, Inc., and MWAGIA, Inc. He was also a member of the Bettendorf Rotary for many years. George was passionate about leadership and inspiring others to reach their full potential. His work colleagues were family to him and he truly cared about all of them.
George loved his family, golfing with his buddies, watching his grandkids grow, cruising in corvettes, classic cars, and boating. He enjoyed fixing things – he was the fixer of all things for everyone. Always there to lend a hand. He encouraged and supported everyone to be the best version of themselves. He was a great friend and had a positive impact on the lives of so many. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife Karen; children, Michelle (Dan) McCarthy of Elmhurst, IL and Jennifer Brimmer (Justin) of Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren, Carter Brimmer (17), Cole Brimmer (15), Cooper Brimmer (13), Makenna Brimmer (12), Jackson George McCarthy (5), and Ayden McCarthy (3); his mother Dorothy Pellettier, and Sister Su Roberts.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Dean Worley, and brother, Leonard Worley.
