Gilbert Easter Medina

Gilbert E. Medina, 76, of Davenport, Iowa passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 10am at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Weerts Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 5-8pm at Weerts Funeral Home. Memorials in his name may be made to the family.

Gilbert was born on April 7, 1947 in Puerto Rico to Luis and Francisca Medina. He served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a computer technician. Gilbert married the love of his life, Mary Green, on October 25, 1969 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a man of faith and was baptized at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois. Gilbert was a family man and loved to spend time with his children and his grandchildren. He lead by example and installed great family values in his children. Gilbert was an artist and put a little part of his spirit in every painting, drawing, and sculptures that he created. He enjoyed reading books, listening to music, dancing, and taking care of his gardens.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 54 years, Mary; his children Marie (Dejan) Milovanovic, Christopher (Gina) Medina, Iris Medina, Lisette (Daniel) Kogut, Frances (Scott) Fornal, Angela (Jeremy) Ales, and Evaline Medina; grandchildren Nikola, Sofia, Marko, Emily (Alex), Anthony, Isabella, Marissa, Maya, Lillian, Katherine, Evan, Nathan, Arianna, Ilisa, Gabriel, Seraphina, Lucinda, Joshua, and Jacob; his siblings Nilda, Steven, Mary, David, Carlos, Theresa, and Rosalie; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carmen.
