A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 10 am at The Runge Mortuary. Memorials may go to St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Online condolences may be left at rungemortuary.com.
Gloria was born in Clinton, IA on June 11, 1927. She was the daughter of John (Jay) James and Josephine (Averkamp) Maskel. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Clinton, IA.
In 1944, she started Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and held positions as an operator, service assistant and clerk. She was promoted and transferred to Davenport, Iowa in 1957 as Dial Chief Operator. She later held positions as District Force Adjustment Supervisor; General Manager of Operator Services and Manager of Directory Assistant for the 319 area. She retired from AT&T with 43 years of total service in the industry.
Those left to honor her memory include niece RoseMarie (Tom) Jensen, Hoffman Estates, IL., nephew Robert Maskel, Apple Valley, MN., Peter (AnaRosa) Dergan, Miami, FL., and Dr. Jose (Lourdes) Dergan, Miami, FL.; great-nephew Jeremy Maskel, great-nieces Ashley Maskel and Amanda Jensen; along with dear friend Lynn Daniel, Milwaukee, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John (Jack) Maskel and sister-in-law Mary Maskel.
