

Harry J. “Jack” Sievers, 86, of LeClaire, IA, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Unity Point Hospital in Bettendorf. At this time there will be no public visitation. Memorial services and burial will be held at a later date at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements. Harry John Sievers was born on September 11, 1930 in Waterloo, IA, the son of Harry and Grace (Butcher) Sievers. Following his graduation from high school in Arlington, VA, he enrolled at the University of Iowa where he played football and earned his BA Degree in Business. He then inlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he served as a First Lieutenant. After completing his military obligations he returned to the University earning his Masters Degree in Commerce. In December of 1953 he married Patricia R. Hewins in Freeport, IL. Most of his adult career was spent as an international sales representative with the former Kartridge Pak in Davenport retiring in 1998. Mr. Sievers was the 1948 and 1949 Virginia High School shot put and discus champion while living in Arlington, VA. After his retirement he was active with SCORE, was a member of the GYROS Club, traveled extensively throughout the world with his wife, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed watching U of I football. Surviving members of the family include – his Wife: Pat; 2 Daughters: Rebecca Sievers of Brooklyn, NY, and Holly (Robert) Sievers-Cafazzo of Ranchos de Taos, NM; a Son: Rod (Bonnie) Sievers of Carterville, IL; a Grandson: Jacob; and a Sister Barbara Bauch of Traer, IA.
