Heather Michelle Santee, 49, of Kissimmee, Florida, faced a long and courageous battle with depression, leading to her passing by suicide on May 7, 2026. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at The Runge Mortuary—a date that also marks Heather’s birthday. Guests are invited to come as they are, with no formal dress expected, just the way Heather would have wanted.
Heather was born on May 14, 1976, in Davenport, Iowa, to Patricia and Randall Bird. She grew up with a deep love for the outdoors and a natural athletic spirit. An avid softball player and runner with enthusiasm for nearly any sport that caught her interest. Heather found peace and joy in movement. Kayaking especially was one of her greatest pleasures.
She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport and carried her faith with her throughout her life.
Heather is survived by her daughters, Haleigh (Kenny) Truong of Moline, Illinois and Hannah (Chris) Andrews of Las Vegas, Nevada; her grandchildren, Lacie and Luca Truong; her father, Randall Bird; her sister, Hollie Gushanas; her grandmother, Della Bird; her nephew, Mason Lantz; her niece, Delanie Gushanas; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Bird; her grandfather, Marvin Bird; her aunt, Kim Jones; her uncle, Mark Bird; and other cherished family members who went before her. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void, but her memory will continue to shine brightly. Any generous donations on her behalf will be to benefit her daughters, Haleigh and Hannah, as they navigate this difficult time.
