
Helen Storjohann, 100, of Davenport passed away peacefully Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Postillion Elder Group Home, Davenport. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 2, 2010 1:00 p.m. at The Runge Mortuary and Crematory with visitation Thursday from 11-1 p.m. at the mortuary. Helen was born November 4, 1910 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport, Iowa the daughter of Claus and Emma (Brandthorst) Ehlers. She was united in marriage to Albert Storjohann January 12, 1935 in Morrison, IL. He died while dancing at a grandson’s wedding reception in Muscatine in 1989.
Mrs. Storjohann was a homemaker who loved to garden and laugh. She shared her produce and love with her family for many years. As a farm wife (frau), during planting and harvest times she provided nourishment for her spouse and helpers five times a day preparing meals on a cook-stove in the early days of her married life.
Helen and Albert loved to dance and their children accompanied them regularly. They participated in a bowling league for many years and enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. She was a member of Liedertaufel Ladies, Golden Wedding Club, and Grace Methodist Seniors.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Daniel (Darla) Storjohann, Wilton, Kathy Conklin, Davenport, Bob (Ginny) Storjohann, Centennial, CO, and Janice Peters, Davenport; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and a sister.
