Howard C. Thomas

A gathering to celebrate the life of Howard C. Thomas, 95, of Davenport will be held on Saturday, September 8th, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Country Kitchen at Oakwood Place at Ridgecrest Village, Davenport. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Mr. Thomas passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012 at Crest Healthcare Center in Davenport. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements. Howard C. Thomas was born on March 28, 1917 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Bert and Nellie (Cramer) Thomas. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Augubrite College in Battle Creek, MI. On October 29, 1938, he married June Estelle Taylor in Battle Creek. Howard was in the cookie and cracker business for over 50 years. He was the president of Capital Baking from 1969-1983. He and his wife were members of the Davenport Country Club for many years, and he enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his Wife: June Thomas of Davenport; two Sons: Bert (Marion) Thomas of Moline, IL, Don (Rhonda) Thomas of Crawfordsville, IA; 7 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: John and James Thomas. Memorials may be directed to Crest Medical.The family would like to extend their appreciation to the faculty and staff at Crest Healthcare Center. Their care and compassion for Howard during his stay was remarkable.
