Services will be 10:00am Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Runge Mortuary Davenport. The family will greet friends 1 hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Please dress casually and share condolences with the family at www.rungemortuary.com.
Jack was born August 14, 1940, in Iowa City, IA to William & Bessie (Rhoads) Gibson. He was united in marriage to Dianne Keeney on November 4, 1961, in Maquoketa, IA. Jack served in the US Army from 1959 to 1962. Jack had been employed at Caterpillar Mt Joy, IA prior to its closing.
Over the years he coached his son’s baseball teams, was a Hawkeye fan, and enjoyed older country music such as Waylon Jennings & Johnny Cash. Family was his first love, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne Gibson; 2 sons Joseph A Gibson, Jeffrey L. Gibson; 1 daughter Deanna M Bailey; grandchildren James L Gibson Jr., Tiffany Richardson, Kyler Gibson, Courtney Gibson, Erika Newman, Cody Malmberg, Katlynn Marti, Logan Bailey, Maquala Wilkins & William Bailey Jr.; & 34 great grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, son James L Gibson, Son in law Bill Bailey, grandson Trent Gibson, sisters Bonnie Ward, Sharon & Karen Gibson, and brother Willie Wayne Gibson.
