Jack H. Schaefer, 86, of Davenport passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Davenport Lutheran Home. Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 18, 2010 11:30AM at Oakdale Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Davenport Lutheran Home. The Runge Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family with final arrangements. Jack was born October 22, 1924 in Davenport, IA the son of Jack and Jane (Kuehl) Schaefer. He was united in marriage to Ariene Vivian Stone April 23, 1949 in Davenport, IA. She preceded him in death in 1994.
He is a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II in the South Pacific for 2 ½ years.
He retired in 1989 after 43 years as an engineer aide with Scott County Secondary Roads Department. After retiring he worked as a part-time custodian at the County Maintenance Facility.
Jack was an avid Chicago Bear fan.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving sons, Steve (Sandy) Schaefer, Solon, IA; John Schaefer, Davenport, grandchildren, Jennifer and Steven.
