Deepest condolences, what a tragic end to a short life. Clearly, he left a giant impact on those around him.  I can't imagine the loss.  Only knowing MJ from work I didn’t get the chance to meet Jakob, but feel the loss. Prayers going out to the entire family and especially to MJ.

jakob truly had the sweetest soul & brightened any room he walked into. He lightened the mood no matter where he went & he was always making everyone he was around so happy. He deserved the world. 🫶🏼

This kid always knew how to make me giggle. Such a sense of humor, such a good friend to Winston and forever will be missed by all. I got to know Jakob  a lil bit better because he would come into the library and hang out. His knowledge about basketball was phenomenal. My heart breaks for you. Please know I am sending lots of strength with prayers to you all.

Though we only met a handful of times when he was younger—those quick "say hi" interactions before he ran off with his friends—I always heard how smart and funny he was. Nick often said we would be fast friends, but I didn’t really know how true that was until last year when we started talking more after my mom passed away. He reached out in such a thoughtful way, and I soon realized just how deep his emotional and social intelligence ran.
Last year, we finally had the chance to spend some quality time together during a trip to the Dells. What was a short visit stretched into 4 or 5 days, thanks to my flights getting cancelled and Jakob delaying his return. Those days turned out to be incredibly special—hours spent hanging out, sharing jokes, and staying up late talking, which eventually turned into a memorable text exchange full of music recommendations, laughter over our favorite comedians, and conversations about school, friends, MMA, football, and Bettendorf sports. What began as casual chats blossomed into a true friendship. It’s rare for a teenager to want to spend time with his dad’s friend, let alone seek advice or share his perspective on life. But that was Jakob—insightful, sharp-witted, and genuinely caring about those around him. I’ll miss those late-night talks and catch-up calls more than words can express.
The hardest part of this loss is knowing how much potential Jakob had and how excited he was for the next chapter. He was ready to take on the world, and it breaks my heart that we won't get to see all that he would have accomplished. His caring nature, his intelligence, and his authenticity set him apart. I was so looking forward to moving back to Iowa, to be near him and joke about crashing his parties or hanging out in his dorm. There’s no doubt in my mind that he would have reached his dreams. The world is dimmer without you, Jakob, and I’ll forever miss watching you grow into the incredible man you were on the way to becoming.

I am terribly sorry for your loss. He was my favorite..  an absolutely wonderful kid. I am really going to miss him.

My prayers and thoughts are going out to family and friends of Jakobs.  I work with him at Dick's and enjoyed many breaks and lunches talking about his Hawkeyes and my Wildcats.  He will be missed.

Jakob was the most postive person I ever met, despite every challenge he faced he always stayed positive. I'll never forget driving around listening to the music you would show me even though I would tease you about it lol. You were so passionate about your 2 favorite sports MMA and football, it was always a pleasure hearing you talk my ear off about your favorite teams and players. I'll never forget are early morning walks around the school, I'll never forget that November day when I met you. I will never forget your bright smile and your voice. I'm so lucky to have been able to build a relationship with a beautiful soul like Jakob he was like a brother to me. Fly high Jakob 🕊🫶🏾

I was heartbroken to learn of Jakob's passing. I had the privilege of teaching Jakob for 3 classes his Freshman and Sophomore years and getting random visits and catch ups when I didn’t have him last year. He was funny, extremely reflective, hardworking, a good friend, and could talk your ear off as long as you let him. One of my favorite memories will always be the time he got contacts and was struggling to put them in. I had him in class for first block that semester so he would come to my classroom before school with his contact solution and I would help him figure out how to get them in. On several occasions I even physically put them in his eyes myself. I am grateful for the trust he placed in me. At the end of last school year he wrote me a note for teacher appreciation week and I will cherish it forever. Rest in peace, Jakob. You will be greatly missed!

Jakob was in my personal wellness class and would always hype me up before football games on Fridays. He was a great supporter and a great friend. He was there supporting us win or lose and never switched up. He was a 1 in a million guy.

Sweet Jakob, I was your great uncle's wife and did not have the pleasure of meeting you as I had moved away before you were born. It seems to me from reading the tributes of others that you had a gift of emulating light, unselfishness, a positive even, charismatic energy about you so that all who met you were blessed by it!! I'm sorry to have missed meeting you. I noticed a light almost Angelic look the first time I saw your picture. We thank God for lending you to us and hope we  will  bless others with the positive attributes you gave us.
