James Wendell Bowman, Jr., 77, of Davenport passed away, Friday, March 2, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in The Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11AM until service time at the mortuary. Burial will be in The National Cemetery, Rock Island.

James was born on March 28, 1940, the son of James and Frances (Schwerdtfeger) Bowman, Sr. James was a veteran of the United States Army having served two tours. He had previously been employed at Farmall. He was the King of the Road and truly enjoyed driving. He was known for his sense of humor and was always on the move. Above all, his family was very important to him. Those left to honor his memory include, children, Eunice Abernathey and James Bowman, III; grandchildren, Lars (Rezin) Bowman, Tracie (Dakota) Ladd, Tessa (Jonathan) Martin, Cory Abernathey, Jr., and Collin Abernathey; great grandchildren; Adaline, Thane, Odin, Kaiden, Otto, and Willow; siblings Richard (Karin) Bowman, Gary “Gus” Dumerauf, Terry (Cindy) Dumerauf, David (Sherry) Lorentzen, Danny (Terri) Lorentzen, Tom Lorentzen, Tony Lorentzen, Neta Connell, William Bowman, and Louis Bowman; and many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents.
