

He had lived on his own since 2022, when his wife Patricia Cooper - St. John died.
Funeral services will be held at Runge Mortuary and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Followed by burial service at Davenport memorial park Cemetery.
Jim was born at home in Stanwood, Iowa to Earl and Elsie (stoecker)St. John on April 20, 1936. He was welcomed home by his older sister Barbara. Later the family welcomed brothers Larry, Arthur, John, Tom and Elmer.
Jim Married Kathleen Engelking on October 15, 1966 in Clarence, Iowa. They had two children, Sally Jo and stephen James. They later divorced in 1987.
He was a lifelong truck driver starting at the age of 17 driving for Earl St. John Trucking and employed with several trucking firms over the years, retiring from John Deere in Davenport at the age of 77.
Jim was an avid Cubs fan and had a ring side seat from his armchair rarely missing a game. He liked to go to the casino, and loved to travel. The highlight of his days was spending time with his mcDonald's buddies over coffee and discussing world affairs at the west Locust location.
Those left to cherish his memory are his first wife, Kathleen(Craig) Babka of Gilmer, TX, daughter Sally(Richard) Calentine of Beaumont, TX, son Stephen(Elizabeth) St. John of Kilgore, TX, grandson grandson Timothy, great granddaughter Nicole, and great grandson Jacob, and great great granddaughters Isabella and Amira Anne all of Texas. Brothers larry and Elmer(Kate) of Clarence, IA. Sister-in-law Phyllis St. John of Stanwood, IA. John of Cedar Rapids, and Tom(teri) of Marion, IA. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Zachary Stephen, brother Arthur, and sister Barbara.
The family wishes to thank the Davenport first Responders, and McDonald's Store no. 05880 on West Locust Street in Davenport, IA.
