Jim was born May 23, 1938, to Robert and Velma (Jebens) Tank in Davenport. Jim graduated from Davenport High School in 1956. He continued his education at the University of Iowa, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree. Jim was united in marriage to Linda Sebolt on August 4, 1984, in Davenport, bringing together a blended family of five children; Amy, Becky, Tom, Beth and Tony. Jim was the president of the former Central Trust and Savings Bank in Eldridge. He later took a position with Northwestern Mutual as an agent. He retired in 2017.
Jim was a member of several boards and organizations in the Quad Cities area including: North Scott Educational Foundation, North Scott School Board, North Scott Lions Club, North Scott Rotary, Davenport Quarter Back Club, Marycrest College, and Good Samaritan.
Jim was an avid runner, running at least 25 Bix 7 races. To say he was an avid Hawkeye fan is an understatement. Fall was reserved for Iowa Hawkeye football. Jim was very patriotic and proud to be an American. He loved spending time with his family.

JIM WAS A WONDERFUL MAN AND COUSIN. WE WOULD SEE EACH OTHER AT COLLAGE PLUS AT GRANDMA'S HOUSE YEARS AGO, ALL THE COUSINS CAME TO GRANDMAS HOUSE AND WE PLAYED IN THE YARD WITH FRUIT AND WOULD EAT IT. SO MANY TIMES GATHERINS AT THE TANK'S IN ELDRIDGE, IOWA. I MISS ALL OF IT SO MUCH. JIM WAS ALWAYS A WONDERFUL PERSON AND I WILL MISS HIM. GOD BLESS MY FRIEND AND COUSIN. AT THE CHRISTMAS PARTY EACH YEAR, MY FUTURE HUSBAND BILL AND JIM WOULD PLAY PING PONG AND JIM ALWAYS SLAM DUNK AND THAT PING PONG BALL WOULD SAIL PAST BILL. JIM ALWAYS WON. GOOD MEMORIES AND WE MISS MY COUSIN.

Still another wonderful memory of Leclaire road. The Tanks, the two Ewoldts, the Wieses, and the Kochs. We were all the best of best friends.
I'm told that that Jim and my brother Larry were kept after school one afternoon. With the teacher out of the room, they crawled out the 2nd floor window, scaled the wall and went home. 😅😅 Our blessings to Lorna and all the family.

To the whole Tank Clan.
So sorry for your loss. The Collins Clan has many fond memories of Jim. He always had a smile and hug for anyone who wanted it. His laugh was infectious and the thought of him makes all of us smile! We are sending hugs and warm, happy thoughts of how much joy Jim brought to the world. He will be missed. He and Karen are probably plotting and Eldridge reunion as we speak!

Dear Tank Family,
We knew Jim in many different ways--first through the bank, then as a parent, and as a friend.
We want to say how much we appreciated Jim for all his services to our community. We also appreciated his ability to always make you feel special. He was a "stand out" friendly person.
We pray you will be comforted by so many good memories--and by God's special comfort and strength.

Linda and Family- Sorry to learn of your loss. I always enjoyed running into Jim in my working days. Jim had such a positive outlook and made friends so easily. We used to laugh about the Tiedje bachelor brothers who lived along the Wapsi. My sincere condolences.

Linda and family,
You have my sympathies and prayers on Jim's death. I greatly appreciated his long support of the residents and staff of the Good Samaritan Society--Davenport. In my years of managing the annual Good Samaritan Golf Outing, Jim's help and support was invaluable. And he provided important financial management counseling to Good Samaritan staff. Jim was genuine servant.

I especially remember Jim from our yearly golf games we would have at Davenport's Duck Creek Golf course, fun times. Also the several times I played with Jim and his brother Ken. Also what a great(?) song leader her was at family reunions. Loved you Jim

His hugs! I will always think of his big bear hugs. It breaks my heart for the Tank family to have lost a third family member so Close on top of the others. So many of my dad‘s generation are now passing. As the oldest daughter I think my memories of the trips to Davenport are stronger because of people like Lorna and Jim and Kenny. I remember spending the night numerous times at the Tank home when I was a kid. I send you all my condolences and a big hug. Nothing is more fitting. Love, Lynne

Our deepest sympathies to Linda and family.
I will always remember how kind Jim was to me, as I helped care for their home.
He always made a point of asking how my family was. That was something I will always remember.
He was, as my husband says, "one of the good guys."
His love and devotion he shared with Linda was very special.
Heaven has gained one very special angel.
All our love,
Jody and Larry Schroeder

I learned of Jim's passing on Facebook just now. We hope the many family members, friends, and church members will be of support to his close knit family. We had the pleasure of visiting with him when he was in turn visiting with his sister and her husband. I can still picture his caring face thanking us for the conversation. Keith and Nancy Schmidt

Jim was a great friend and a leader in our North Scott Community. I had the pleasure of having his children and step-children in my U.S. History, American Issues, and/or World History classes during my first few years teaching and coaching at North Scott H.S.
Jim was very supportive of them and Tom played second base for us during his athletic career for the Lancers. Jim always had a positive outlook on issues and he always had a smile and wanted to know how your family and you were doing. I don't know where he found the time to be on so many board of directors but he was a positive asset in every group he joined. He will be missed.
To Amy, Beth, and Tom: Reconnect with me on Facebook. I would love to catch up. Sue and I are grandparents for the first time and our grandson lives in Minneapolis.
Again, you have our deepest sympathy in the loss of your dad.
Sincerely,
R.D.
