Janet Cottrell

Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in The Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until service time Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Chariton Iowa Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Davenport. Online tributes may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Janet was born on October 4, 1928 in Derby, Iowa the daughter of Herbert and Lucy (Patterson) Stansbery. Janet was united in marriage to Marvin Cottrell on July 17, 1948 at Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. She was employed at JC Penny in Davenport for ten years. She enjoyed going to the casino. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Davenport, where she was very active in many groups, including the Esther Circle and Vista. Janet was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Janet was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan too.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 67 years, Marvin Cottrell, Davenport; son Tim (Marsha) Cottrell of Burlington, Iowa; granddaughters Lisa (Greg) Bentley, Portland, OR, and Jessica (Matt) McChesney, Burlington, IA; great grandchildren Zoe and Teagen Bentley, Portland, OR, and Xianne McChesney, Burlington, Iowa; and sisters, Joan Kingsbury, Chariton, IA, Lucille (Dick) Young, Chariton, IA, and Audrey McKnight, Carlisle, IA.

She was preceded in death by a son, Randall Cottrell; five brothers and 3 sisters.
