

Services for Jean Stringham, 87, Davenport, will be on Monday, May 7, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Oakdale Cementry Davenport. Visitation is Sunday, May 6, from 2 to 5 pm at Runge's Funeral Home, Davenport.
Jean died on April 27, 2012. Jean was born on April 28,1924, to Herbert and Marie(Wiederrecht) Krabbenhoeft in Davenport, Iowa. She married Wallace R Stringham in 1946. They were married for 55 years. Wally died on April 15, 2002.
Jean graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in journalism. While at the university she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was Associate Editor of the Daily Iowan newspaper. A lifelong Davenport resident, Jean always said she was just a housewife and mother, but while raising her family she was active in many volunteer organizations: the Altar Guild of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, St. Luke's Hospital, Visiting Nurse and Homemaker of Scott county, P.E.O. Chapter FJ, P.T.A. of Davenport schools, the Red Cross, Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Bank, JR, League of the Quad Cities, the Children's Museum, the Davenport Art Gallery, Executive Board of Genesis Medical Center and Executive Board of the Clarissa Cook Hospice House. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral or the Genesis Foundation. Jean is survived by daughter, Leslie Stoker, New York City; son, Jeff Stringham, Davenport; grandchildren, Nicholas Stoker, Mark Stringham, and Sally Stringham; son-in-law Jeff Stoker; daughter-in-law Jill Stringham; and grandaughter-in-law Courtney Stringham.
