John Ray Brandt

Johnny Ray Brandt, 65, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. A celebration of his life will be Friday, March 11, 2022 at 12 pm at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Friday from 10 am until the service, at the mortuary. His final resting place will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com.

John was born April 3, 1956, the son of Lester and Beverly (Wallace) Brandt. He married Nancy Brouwers on July 25, 1980 in Davenport. He proudly served in the US Navy during the end of the Vietnam War. He drove semi truck for many years prior to retiring in April 2021. He last worked for River Bend Transit.

He loved helping others, especially working on their cars. He also loved to go camping at the former Indian Trails in Colona, IL His greatest joy though was spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Nancy, children: Donna (Larry Jr) Armstrong, Shaun Brandt, Johnny Brandt Jr., Dominick Brandt and fiancée, Macaila Backwoods and Makayla “Sage” Brandt and her fiancée, Aaliyah Harris, all of Davenport, grandchildren: Christopher, Courtney, Kelsie, Nathan, Anthony and Hunter, 8 great grandchildren and numerous siblings, nieces, nephews and extended family members. His parents and an infant brother, Larry Lee preceded him in death.
