

John M. La Frentz, 75, of Bettendorf, passed away Monday, November 30, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center - East Campus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Monday, December 7, 2015 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 7:00 pm Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the Runge Mortuary. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. John was born on September 16, 1940, the son of Raymond and Edna (Tofanelli) La Frentz. He served in the Navy and was a Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machinist for various manufacturing companies in the Quad Cities. Mr. La Frentz was a real estate broker and an admissions representative for the AIC college. He enjoyed boating and being on the water. He also enjoyed 1950's & 1960's automobiles. John and his partner were foster parents for 10 years, fostering 30 children, and adopting 12 of them. John enjoyed watching his family grow and spending time with them, especially during the holidays. Survivors include his partner of 34 years and care giver for the last two years of his life, Michael Henning, Bettendorf, sons, Casey La Frentz, Davenport, John La Frentz, Davenport, James La Frentz, East Moline, Matthew (Kristin) La Frentz-Henning, Morning Sun, IA, Michael L. Henning, Davenport, Chase Henning, Rock Island; daughters, Kierra Henning, Davenport and Alyssa Henning, Davenport; sister, Debe Olson, Greensboro, South Carolina; brother, Raymond (Cindy) La Frentz, Bettendorf. John was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Henning wishes to give special thanks to Kathie Schevers, Windsor, CO, for her emotional support during John’s two year battle with Parkinson’s and to the staff at St. Mary Health Care and Rehabilitation for their professionalism, patience, love, care and compassion for John during the last month and a half of his life.
