John Robert Olds

John R. Olds, 95, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025, with his family by his side. Per his request, private services will be held, and burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials in John’s name may be made to King’s Harvest Animal Rescue or to the Humane Society of Scott County.

John was born on January 29, 1930, in Washington, Iowa to Francis and Wilma Olds. John joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War from 1951 – 1953. He was united in marriage to June Morrison on March 14, 1951, she preceded him in passing in 2023. John worked at ALCOA for 40 years before he retired in 1989. He was an active member at St. Mark Lutheran Church. During his retirement, John enjoyed Go-Kart Racing and flying planes.

Those left to honor his memory are his children Ricky Olds, Diane Fellman, Michael (Betty) Olds, and Peggy (Eddie) Tidwell; grandchildren Kyle, Kyra (Grant), Tara (Melissa), and John (Rachel); and great-grandchildren Zane, Zara, Alyssa, Jessie, Chevelle, June, Briggs, Elliot, and Jonas.

He was preceded in death by his wife June, grandson Brandon, parents Francis and Wilma, and brothers Bill, Charlie, and Joe.
