John D. Shelton

John D. Shelton, 68, of Davenport, died at his home, surrounded by his family on Friday, November 12, 2010. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 2:30 pm at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.

John as born August 8, 1942 in Long Beach, CA, the son of Harold Shelton and Dorothy (James) Ehlers. He was united in marriage to Ruth Pierson on August 22, 1960 in Kirksville, MO. John worked as a combine repairman for Case IH and retired from there. After his retirement he owned and operated Shelton Maintenance. He loved collecting cigarette lighters, but, his greatest joy was spending time with his family; especially his children and grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Ruth, Davenport, daughter, Kristie (Rick) Richardson, Davenport, sons: Anthony, Moline, Scott and his fiancé, Deanna Trout, Davenport, grandchildren: Heather and Rebecca Richardson, Christina and Cara Healy, Anna Hunt, Melody, Angel, Joshua, Nathan and Bethany Shelton and one more grandchild due in April; great grandchildren: Seth, Owen, Ella & Jacob; brother, Bob (Deena) Shelton, Des Moines, IA; sister, Mary (Steve) Wells, Cambridge, IL and his beloved Collie, Diamond and his pet bird, Sunshine. His parents, son, John and a brother Bill preceded him in death.
