Joseph R. Diehl, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at the age of 101. Predeceased by his wife Alice G. Diehl and second wife Mildred E. (“Midge”) (Lank) Diehl. Survived by three sons: David (Gail), Joseph Jr. (Susan) and John (Betty); stepson, Robert Lank and stepdaughter, Nancy Lank; seven grandchildren and three step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Joe was a retiree of International Harvester Co. (Farmall and East Moline Works) and later Tri-City Fabricating Co. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge. He served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II as a combat soldier in the Pacific. Throughout his life, Joe was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs, enjoyed playing golf, volunteered in youth activities and served on non-profit boards.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Weerts Funeral. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation at Parkinson.org.
