Joyce was born on August 24, 1944, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Glenn and Mary (Cronk) Rhoads. She was united in marriage to Richard Mentzer, and later to Charles Lidke. On September 5, 1998, she married David Williamson, who preceded her in death on February 3, 2017.
Her independent spirit will be remembered as well as her kind and loving heart. She never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand or a smile to those around her. She enjoyed the casino and the occasional peach schnapps and diet Dr. Pepper with friends, always ready for a laugh and good company. Parting was always a long process with plenty of “love you babes!”. Joyce loved a full house, a bit of mischief, and the occasional karaoke night—especially when she could sing a Patsy Cline song. She always sang from the heart.
Family was at the center of Joyce’s world. She hosted huge family gatherings—with as many as 60 people filling the house. Laughter and stories were always in abundance, and the younger ones often had to be dragged away when it was time to go—unless, of course, there was a sleepover!
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Deborah Beard, Diana (Randy) McKinley, Marjorie (Bob) Paasch; sons, Russell (Terry Wilkerson) Mentzer, Glenn (Shannon) Mentzer; grandchildren, Jr, Stephanie, Amber, Josh, Amy, Melissa, Ryan, Gage, Brandon, Brady, Brittany, Morgan, Chandler, Meredith, Brooke and Breeanna; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; her aunt, Marjorie Jean McDonald and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, David; sister, Jeannie Miles; son-in-law, Greg Beard.
Joyce’s warmth, humor, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
