Judith Anne Shirk

Judith "Judy" Anne Shirk passed away on May 26th, 2025. Judy was born July 30th, 1939. She lived on a farm near Guttenberg, Iowa until she was 10 years old then she moved to Davenport, Iowa in 1949. The daughter of Homer and Minnie Radabaugh. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1957. She was united in marriage to Michael Kermit Shirk on June 20th, 1959. She worked in the bookkeeping and accounting field for 30 years – loved it. She lived and loved to roller skate. From the time she was 16 years to 19 years old she skated 11 hours each week.

She and her husband were foster parents to newborn babies that were being given up for adoption. They did this for two years in the early 1970’s. She enjoyed the 70’s and 80’s music and always played them fairly loud. She also liked hand sewing, quilting, reading, and babies. She and Michael were the parents of 4 terrific sons, Brent, Craig, Matthew, and Shawn.

She is survived by sons, Matthew (Julie) Shirk, Shawn (Karen) Shirk; special, special grandchildren, Brian, Colin, Cody, Savanna, Emily, and Trace; and one great-grandson, Gideon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, her husband Michael, and her sons Brent and Craig.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. Weerts Funeral Home is assisting the family.
