Julius H. Johannsen

Julius H. Johannsen, 88, of Davenport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 8, 2014 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to New Hope Presbyterian Church in Davenport or Good Samaritan Society. Julius was born on June 3, 1926 in Scott County, IA, the son of Julius H. and Augusta (Petersen) Johannsen, Sr. He was united in marriage to Erna Allensworth on June 4, 1949 in Davenport, IA. He farmed and later retired from Strieter Motor Company. Julius enjoyed traveling with his wife, working in his yard tending to the flowers he planted, and playing cards with his friends. He was a charter member of West Park Presbyterian Church which is now New Hope Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Erna; daughter, Janice (Gary) Mau, Davenport; granddaughter, Jennifer (Gabe) Mau-Fajuri, Chicago; great granddaughter, Avery Panganiban, Chicago; grandson, Jeffery (Ann Marie) Mau, Davenport; and great grandson, Hunter Mau.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Norma Lager.
