Katie Eleanor Moritz

Katie Eleanor Moritz, 82, of Davenport passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 in the comforts of her home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. She was born on March 12, 1934 in Powersville, MO the daughter of Hartley and Marie (Shriver) Gatrel. Katie was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Moritz on June 29, 1963. He preceded her in death in 2004. She met her husband during her 15 years of working at Peter Pan. Together they went to Wonder Bread and work there for 10 more years. Katie loved making crafts, sewing, playing BINGO, going to garage sales and working in her flower garden. Everyone loved her funnel cakes and she loved everyone with a kind heart. In Katie’s early years she loved to square dance with her husband; even making her own clothes for the dances. Katie cherished the vacations she was able to take with her family. Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Bates; son, Danny Gatrel; Step-son, Mike (Pat) Moritz; sister, Thomasine (John) Rennenger; grandchildren: Steve Rudolph, Shannon Spencer, Katie Nicholson, Angela Duvall, Lacey Gatrel and James Gatrel and six great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Mackie Donald Gatrel and Tex Gatrel.
