Kenneth "Ken" Cox

Kenneth L. “Ken” Cox, 83, of Davenport, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Davenport Lutheran Home, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Graveside services will be held at a later date at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Hills, Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Ken was born September 1, 1929 in Davenport, the son of Walter and Iretta (Stout) Cox. He was united in marriage to Lois Smart on October 1, 1954 in Davenport. He retired from Caterpillar in January of 1986 after twenty years of service. He was a past member of the Davenport Elks and Moose Lodges. He loved to travel and occasionally enjoyed an ice-cold beer.

Those celebrating his life are his loving wife of 58 ½ years, Lois, Davenport; sons, Craig, Davenport; Bruce (Diana) Cox, Atalissa, IA; Kevin (Rachael) Cox, LeClaire, IA; daughter, Marla (Robert) Hartman, West Liberty, IA; grandchildren: Matt, Becky, Kaylee and Michael Hartman; Anthony and Nate Cox; one step granddaughter, Rachael Rock; two step great granddaughters: Sophia Browning and Payton Rock; brother, Robert G. Cox, Sr., Williamsburg, IA and an uncle, Orville Stout, Davenport. His parents preceded him in death.
