The visitation will be on Friday January 31st from 12:00pm until 2:00pm, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00, at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory. He will be laid to rest with his wife at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to The Honor Flight Network.
Ken was born on August 31, 1946, in Davenport to Hans and Hazel (Hertzner) Niebuhr. He graduated from West High School in 1965 and was then drafted into the Army. He was a member of the Teamsters and drove for UPS until his retirement in 2001. After his retirement he volunteered for the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Bank and briefly taught truck driving school at Scott Community College. He was united in marriage to Mary Jo Allison on April 6, 1974, in Bettendorf, Iowa. They went on to have two children together, Michael and Stephanie.
Ken loved time with his family, breakfast with his buddies, traveling, nature, and muscle cars. His love for nature extended to animals, especially his pomeranian Haley and two kitties.
Those left to honor his memory include his son, Michael (Emily) Niebuhr; daughter, Stephanie Niebuhr; grandchildren, Trenton, Myra, and Travis Niebuhr; brother, Donald Niebuhr; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jo; parents, Hans and Hazel; and sisters, Ruthann Niebuhr and Betty Lewis.
