Larry J. Coverstone, 74, of Bettendorf, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport after a brief battle with cancer. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a Visitation from 3:00 p.m - 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Weerts Funeral Home. A Private Family Service will follow. Larry was born September 18, 1948, in Mattoon, IL, to Jack and Louise (Richards) Coverstone. He graduated from Charleston High School in 1966, and was united in marriage to Kay Ann Davis on July 4, 1969 in Charleston, IL. He graduated with a degree in business from Eastern Illinois University in 1974.
Larry was employed for more than four decades at R.I.A. Federal Credit Union, retiring in 2018 from his position as President and CEO. He was very involved in community organizations and investment clubs. Larry was a longtime member of the Christian Church. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Kay and spending time with his family. Larry was an avid fan and shareholder of the Green Bay Packers.
Larry is survived by his wife Kay, and three children: Traci (Terry) Garmon of Moline, IL, and their children Austin and Annika; Bandi (Troy) Sullivan of Bettendorf, IA, and their children Taylor (Justyn) Johansen and Devin; and Justin (Brianna) Coverstone of Freeport, IL, and their children Isabella, Gavin, Judson, Asher, Abigail, Eliza, and Evangeline; and great grandchild, due to be born January 2023 to Taylor and Justyn. Larry is the oldest of three children, survived by his sisters Bea (Dan) Conley and their child Troy (Scarlet) Conley; and Patti (Ed) Phillips and Patti’s children Heather Moler, Wade Lewis, and Shalimar (Bobby) Aiken.
Larry is also survived by his mother-in-law Wanda Davis.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and father-in-law, Gene Davis
As a committed Christian, Larry was ready for this move to his heavenly home.
