Per his wishes he will be cremated. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 15, at the Runge Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Larry was born on July 18, 1938 to Homer and Florence (Simpson) Ragan in Burke, South Dakota. He formed Ragan Company (Ragan Mechanical) with his three brothers in 1958. He ran the company solely since 1972 and retired in 2001. He married Donna Staack (Ragan) in 1981 and adopted daughter Kaylee Ragan in 1984.
Larry was a member of the Rotary Club, and part of the Pipefitters Union 387/25. He enjoyed and spent time golfing with his friends and work associates, loved John Wayne movies, read while listening to classical music, telling stories, shopping on Amazon, and attending grandchildren’s activities.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife, Donna; daughters, Lori (Greg) Krug, Shelly (John) Masengarb, and Kaylee Ragan; son, Jeff (Christine) Ragan; stepsons, Ron (Laura) Staack and Todd (Debra) Staack; and sister, Sharon (David) Block. He has 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both parents, three brothers, two sisters, and his stepson.
