Lillian "Bill" Smithe

Lillian “Bill” Georgeen Smithe, 94, of Davenport, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 1:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Lillian was born July 30, 1919 in Urbana, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur and Helma (Nuessle) Detmers. Bill, with her strong will & dedication served as a housekeeper for many families over the years and worked until she was 82. She loved watching game shows, reading, trips to the boat to play slots and eating out with her family. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Carol Timbrook, Davenport; Vicki Lynn Smith, Davenport; son, Glenn “Butch” Smithe, Davenport; grandchildren: Kim Smithe, Leann (Mark) Noack, Michael Haessler, Pam Taylor, Piper Moeller, Dawn Smithe, & Heather Smithe; numerous great grandchildren and a sister, Barbara (Rex) Clasen, Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jeannette Jorgensen, brother, Arthur “Bud” Detmers and a grandson, Brian Haessler.
