

Her final resting place will be with her husband in Pine Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to “Winnie’s Place” for city bus passes to help women in shelters to their destinations.
Lois was born on December 14, 1942, in Perry, IA to Glen Raymond and Lela (Asher) Free. She attended Perry High School.
She married Byron R. Schappaugh on March 21, 1959, in Perry, IA. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2012. Together with her husband Byron, they owned and operated Schappaugh Upholstery in Burlington. Lois drove a school bus for Burlington and Davenport School Districts and later, drove a Davenport city bus, retiring in 2005 after 28 years of service with the City of Davenport.
She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved watching and feeding birds. She had an affinity for Coca Cola memorabilia.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Daniel Schappaugh (Nancy Thompson) of Aurora, CO; Debra (Drake) Bishop and Doreen Schappaugh, both of Davenport; grandchildren: Mandy and Chad, Adam (Cara), Amy, Alex (Tina), Eric, eight great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Marilyn Free, Perry, IA
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, Byron, son, Dennis (1983), and a brother, Tom.
